Royal Troon Golf Club is situated on the south side of Troon only a few hundred yards south of the town centre. There are another five fine golf courses in Troon, plus some excellent hotels and B&Bs, making the town a golf haven.

Right is a view of Troon’s South Beach where windsurfing is a popular event. This part of the beach with parking facilities, is less than 100 yards from Royal Troon clubhouse.

| Left is a view from Ayr Road looking towards Troon Cross, the centre of town. Portland Street, the town’s main street, is to the right at the cross. A left turn at the cross leads to the beach and strait ahead leads to the marina and harbour. The town center has a good variety of pubs for food and entertainment, restaurants and cafe's.

Right is a view showing the beach at its closest to the town centre. There are a few car parks situated along the beach with views over the Firth of Clyde and many islands.

| Troon’s Yacht Haven off Harbour Road has a licensed restaurant that gives excellent views over the marina’s yachts.
Yacht charter in Troon can be found at the website www.maritimeconnection.co.uk. This company offers various styles of yachting with tuition courses available.

Also, the 58 foot luxury yacht Lexus Lady can be chartered for day trips from Troon for up to 12 guests. The trips normally depart Troon 10.00 and return to Troon 17.00.

| To the north of Troon centre is Barassie beach. This long stretch of beach and grassland does not get quite as busy as Troon’s South Beach. |
Right is a view over the Firth of Clyde from Barrasie beach looking northwards towards Irvine and Ardrossan. Wind surfing, kite surfing and jet skiing are popular on this stretch of beach. |

| From many parts of Troon you can see the tower of St Meddans Church. This impressive looking church, that is well worth a visit, is situated on St Meddans Street southeast of the town centre.

P&O since March 2005, has been the main operator out of Troon Harbour with conventional ferries and new superfast catamarans. The P&O vessels travel between Troon and Larne with Larne being about 20 miles north of Belfast.
The P&O website offers day trips (ferry/coach) throughout Ireland from Larne or Scottish trips from Troon. The website is www.poirishsea.compassenger.
Regular coach and train services run between Larne and Belfast. Trains from Troon run every 20 minutes, 10 minutes south to Ayr, or, 40 minutes north to Glasgow Central.
